Revisiting A Familiar Emotion
Backstory: This is an incomplete poem based on a real life experience. So many things have happened ever since and I don’t think I’m capable of revisiting those emotions… As we drove, I could hear the engine revving over the conversations of our palpitations. We’ve been here before. And yet still, the larvae nestled in a cocoon silently resting within the folds of our padded lung lobes breaks free and commences to flutter. Batting golden wings to impress cherubs to acquiesce access to the litany of scriptures from the 13th chapter in the first letter to the Corinthians and genetically bound us in perfection. So that when our lips interact we are reminded that love never fails. And with eyes closed I would read your body language in Braille. -Joekenneth
